The Repeat Offenders
If I had to name my current style era, I’d call it polished casual with a pulse.
At the start of the year, I declared I was going to “get dressed and shop my closet” more. And if we’re grading progress? Let’s just say we’re hovering at a solid C minus. Listen, Rome wasn’t built in a day, am I right?
But on the days I do step out of the workout set and into something intentional, I notice a clear pattern emerging. I’m reaching for the same familiar heroes over and over again: a great pair of denim, a cashmere sweater or sharp blazer, loafers, and a ball cap.
It feels effortless. It feels easy. It still feels pulled together.
And as a working mom of three, that trifecta is my holy grail.
I love the idea of dressing for your lifestyle. Would I adore floating through life in full city-girl glam daily? Absolutely. But real life for me is carpools, content days, meetings, workouts, errands, and cooking. Casual with a chic edge fits this chapter beautifully.
So here are the repeat offenders currently earning their keep in my closet:
Wide-leg denim and classic 90s straight-leg denim.
Both silhouettes feel modern but grounded. They do not try too hard. They just work.
A little nod to my 80s heart. Equal parts preppy and playful.
Forever classic, always elevated. The kind of piece that makes denim feel intentional instead of accidental.
My favorite contradiction. Structured meets sporty. Tomboy chic with a wink.
Fur and Denim
A little drama never hurt anyone. Confidence is always the warmest layer.
Red Heart Sweater
A love letter to the unexpected. Proof that the smallest details make the biggest statement.
BROWN SWEATER WITH ORANGE BAG
Quiet luxury with a pulse. Grounded neutrals, finished with a little bit of courage.
If you’re in a style rut or trying to shop your closet before you shop the internet, Pinterest remains my secret weapon. I’ll pin outfits using pieces I already own, and suddenly my wardrobe feels new again. Sometimes it’s not about buying something better. It’s about seeing what you have with fresh eyes.
