Let’s Sail the British Virgin Islands

What better way to ring in milestone birthdays—40 and 50—than by setting sail through the stunning British Virgin Islands? And when I say it was incredible, I mean truly spectacular. After some serious research (shoutout to Johnny and my brother-in-law for their due diligence), we landed on the all inclusive package from Voyage Charters—and let me just say, it. did. not. disappoint. Our seven-day sailing adventure was nothing short of magical. Think: gourmet meals, breathtaking backdrops, unforgettable excursions, endless laughter, and the kind of memories that bond friends for a lifetime. The experience was pure magic from start to finish. Whether we were dancing under the stars, snorkeling in crystal-clear coves, taking spontaneous late-night swims, or simply soaking in the view with a cocktail in hand (thank you, Carl!), every moment was soaked in joy and gratitude.

Speaking of gratitude, I’d be remiss if I didn’t shout out our phenomenal crew:

    •    Captain Chris – Moms of 20-something daughters, take note: he’s single, sweet, endlessly professional, so knowledgeable, and curated the perfect itinerary. A true gem.

    •    Chef Nia – An absolute powerhouse in the kitchen. Every dish she served was next-level delicious. I’m still dreaming about her meals.

    •    Carl – The heartbeat of the boat. From his iconic playlists to bottomless cocktails and unmatched energy, Carl kept the vibes sky-high all week long.

We miss this dream team already.

Our 7-Day British Virgin Islands Sailing Itinerary

We flew into Tortola and took a 45-minute ride to meet our catamaran. After spending our first night docked at the marina—acclimating, sipping cocktails, and settling in—we set sail. Here’s how the magic unfolded:

Some FAQs from My DMs

Answering your most-asked questions from our BVI adventure!

Q: How were the rooms?

Clean, fresh, and—as expected—close quarters. It’s a boat, after all! The game-changer for us was unpacking immediately, staying organized, and handing our suitcases over to the crew for storage. We honestly only used our cabins for sleeping—and we slept like babies.

Q: Did anyone get seasick?

Just once! On our way to Scrub Island, we hit a bit of a storm (which actually added to the adventure). We were prepared with Dramamine and pressure bracelets, but only Teri needed them that morning. Highly recommend bringing both—just in case!

Q: Does the price include the tip?

It doesn’t—so come prepared with CASH for the crew’s gratuity. Many crew members are international and don’t have access to Venmo or similar apps. Cash is king… as are generous tips!

Q: How did you fit everything in a carry-on?

See all my packing tips [HERE]. I separated my FACE, MAKEUP, and HAIR essentials into clear travel bags, which worked like a charm. TSA PreCheck was smooth as usual, but Tortola’s security required a quart-size ziplock for liquids on the way home—a quick and easy fix!

Q: Can you share your packing list?

Absolutely—everything I could link from the trip is [HERE] for you!

And even though I’m still swaying from the motion of the ocean, I’d do this trip again and again and again. One of our absolute B E S T adventures ever.
