Capsule Wardrobe: Summer into Fall

You know those weeks where one day its a blazing 80 degrees and the next, a brisk 60? Well if you do, it’s probably a sign that you live in the Midwest like me. As a Florida native, it took me some time to adjust to the indecisive weather and even longer to adjust to the havoc that can wreak on one’s wardrobe. This season, I have challenged myself to create a capsule wardrobe that will take me seamlessly from the hotter than heck days of Summer into those delightful Fall temps, and everyday in between. The goal was to identify roughly 30 pieces that I can mix and match to create a new look each day. While it did take some willpower, and a few exceptions (ya girl cannot narrow down her accessories), I have curated a capsule that gives me a variety of looks, all consisting of items already in my closet!

In my opinion, every capsule wardrobe needs the following:

A few good pairs of denim…I chose my Agolde 90’s pinch (of course) and a pair of classic black jeans. These staples transition perfectly from a casual daytime look, paired with a cute sneaker (like these statement green New Balances), and can be dolled up with a heel and a blazer for GNO.

Next, I went for my basic tops…black and white bodysuits…some tanks, some tees. Once again, these are perfect for your everyday errand look, paired with shorts and sneaks. Have a fun and flirty date night planned? Toss on your favorite blazer and a pair of strappy heels — you’re golden!

While the idea is to keep things as simple as possible to allow for optimal outfit variations, you know I HAD to throw in some print and color. I mixed up my capsule with some pops of greens and oranges (my fave hues for the season) and while I did keep my prints to a minimum, a few stripes only seemed fitting.

I must admit, I was a bit intimidated walking into my closet and committing to 30(ish) pieces, but I was pleasantly surprised once the creative juices started flowing and I was able to create a multitude of playful yet chic looks…I challenge you to do the same this season! Whether you’re shopping new, or shopping your own closet like me, a capsule collection is such a great way to bring new life to your everyday wardrobe…and saving a little bit of cheddar ain’t half bad either! Can’t wait to see what you piece together, gang!
