Contemporary Kitchen Ideas

It's been ages since I've done a "HOME POST" and since Johnny is working late, I figured there's no time like the present to share some contemporary kitchen ideas and the heart of our home--the kitchen. Probably one of my most frequently asked questions about our home (aside from our Castle Combes floors) is the color of our cabinets....a year later and we are still so in love with the Night Owl shade as it gives our kitchen the coziness we were looking for. In an effort to keep the space modern, we opted for Neolith counters and backsplash. A large format porcelain, Neolith is literally one of the most durable surfaces as we could technically blow torch it and it wouldn't flinch....many times I even use our 12' Neolith island as my cutting board. We have the surface in our condo and knew it was a no brainer for our home! We also knew we wanted a large dining room table and we knew we wanted a live edge.....we knew we wanted it to seat a boatload of people...and thankfully Jim Younger in Noblesville, IN was able to deliver a beautiful custom built table (and beams) to our space--it's PERFECT for family gatherings and entertaining. And while we opted to go for the gusto on our Lighting and Table, we preserved the ole' wallet and did a colorful bundle of "Eames" style chairs, barstools from Crate & Barrel, and kitchen accessories from At Home.

It's a space we love. It's a space we gather all throughout the day. It's a space that will carry many memories for our family. It's a space that wouldn't be possible without the design of Shannon Poe from Chateau Kitchens and Styling from Ashley Bedwell of Rowland Designs...two of the best in the biz!! Thanks, Ladies....you gave us our dream kitchen!
I hope y'all enjoyed a piece of our home....we've got our basement guest room next on the agenda....stay tuned!
