Calvin's Big Boy Room
What a cliche thing I’m about to say but HOW IN THE WORLD IS MY BABY IN A BIG BOY ROOM? So very bitter sweet because he’s at such a fun and hilarious stage and it was indeed time for him to make this transition but goodness, no more rocking to bed?? Cue the tears. While I wallow from behind the screen let’s share the good news….Calvin L O V E S his big boy room…specifically his new BED FROM THE INSIDE. I am loving all the print mixing going on in this space and it’s largely due to his NAVY IKAT PLATFORM BED. We knew we wanted a queen size so he could grow into it, but we wanted to keep a modern feel and a low profile…hence the platform. Other notables would be his BEDDING FROM TARGET. He’s 3, which means…this won’t be his first set of bedding and I’d venture to guess it’ll take a lickin’ quickly….therefore, I didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg on his bedding but also wanted to make sure it meshed with the room’s vibe. These SHEETS got rave reviews and complement the bed’s print and this COMFORTER (I loathe duvets) is equal parts cozy and neutral. I pretty much just remixed what was already on his shelves…his artwork with some of his sisters’ pieces and family photos. His nursery print from MINTED and his OEUF DRESSER are both items that transitioned perfectly with this space as well as this RUG FROM ONE KINGS LANE. Probably one of my favorite items in his room (aside from his toy bucket of buddies), is the FLOATING ACRYLIC BOOKSHELVES….I Love it because not only is it functional for my little bookworm, but I also think it looks perfect in this space between his windows—and a little tip: ombre the books for a fun little pop. We also needed him to have a little BEDSIDE TABLE for his drinks, lamp (which I just ordered THIS ONE), and ya know, used bandaids like I found this morning….and this mid century modern one from TARGET is perfect…..it does require assembly but Johnny tackled in no time and you can’t beat the price tag. Little accessories such as these JARS (I’m replacing the glass ones with these ACRYLICSbecause #toddler) filled with legos and Dinos are a fun touch atop his dresser. And lastly, I can’t forget about the focal point of this space….the W A L L P A P E R from Cole & Son….reminds me of my (fisherman) dad and my Florida roots…and it simply makes me smile! When he was little we used to kiss the mommy, daddy, sister, and baby fish before bedtime—the sweetest memories!! Heres to hoping your week is off to a fresh start….make it a good one!
