It was around summertime last year when I first discovered these gorgeous handmade baskets from Authentic Goods of West Africa.  I was in need of additional storage for my closet and since I’m never one to shy away from color, I knew these BEAUTIES would be perfect!  And well, suffice it to say, these AGOWA handmade baskets are still getting the job done all while adding a unique twist in my closet.  Fun fact, “Where are your BASKETS from,” is probably one of the most commonly asked questions I receive whenever I showcase my closet.  So I would imagine many of you will be stoked to hear that AGOWA is having their anniversary sale on not only their baskets but their BOWLS as well.  I have since snagged ONE for Johnny and I love the unique texture and function it adds to his space.

And if you’re like me and love supporting smaller (female) owned business, it’s important to note that AGOWA was founded in 2014 by Aliou and Fatou.  A tradition amongst the Senegalese women, THESE BASKETS are created with meticulous attention to detail all while blending traditional weaving with modern design.  These beautifully made baskets are both stylish and practical while providing opportunities to women throughout 15 remote villages in Thies.  Be sure to sneak a peek at the entire AGOWA site as I’m pretty certain you’ll see something you’ll wanna get your hands on and goodies in (think toys, accessories, shoes, laundry, blankets, etc)...Happy Anniversary AGOWA...thank you for sharing your gorgeous and unique talents with us all!
